Learned something new today.
In Kyrgyztan, it is acceptable for men to kidnap girls and make them their wives.
Men revived this practice rooted in pre-Soviet culture when the the union collapsed.
It is not only taken lightly. Celebrations ensue after a girl is kidnapped.
The girl's parents even show up as a sign that they are accepting the boy's "proposal".
Who would have thought?
